Ludhiana, March 2:
With Municipal Corporation (MC) expediting the process to shift the street vendors to the proposed vending zone sites in the city, Ludhiana Central MLA Ashok Prashar Pappi inspected one of the proposed vending zone sites near Childrens' park (backside Civil hospital) on Thursday.
MC Zonal Commissioner (Zone A) Neeraj Jain and members of street vendors association also accompanied the legislator.
MLA Prashar stated that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led state government is committed for development of the state. The vending zones have to be established for shifting the street vendors from the road sides and this process will start from Ludhiana Central constituency. It will not only help in streamlining the movement of traffic, but will also facilitate the vendors.
The legislator stated that directions have been issued to the MC officials to take up cleanliness drive at the spot, so that the vendors from Field Ganj and adjoining areas can be shifted to the proposed site.
With focus on shifting the street vendors to the notified street vending zones situated in different parts of the city, Municipal Corporation (MC) had also organised a meeting of the Town Vending Committee (TVC) at MC Zone A office recently.
Zonal Commissioner Neeraj Jain stated that working on the directions of MC Commissioner Dr Shena Aggarwal, civic body is working to establish vending zones in the city. In that course, MLA Prashar has also inspected one of the proposed sites.
Jain further stated that they had also invited members of street vendors association for incorporating their suggestions. MC will commence the process to shift street vendors to the proposed vending zone sites shortly. The process will be taken up in phases.
