Punjab Investment Promotion Minister Anmol Gagan Maan on Wednesday launched Flipkart's first grocery fulfillment center in Punjab here at Ludhiana District which would provide market access to a large number of MSMEs, and farmer producer organizations besides creating ample employment opportunities for youth. Addressing the inaugural ceremony here at Focal Point, the minister said that the new fulfillment center will further expand Flipkart's supply chain network and enable doorstep delivery of groceries across Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh. Likewise, the center will create nearly 800 direct and indirect job opportunities and enable pan-India market access to thousands of local sellers, MSMEs, and small farmers in the region, she added. Accompanied by CEO Invest Punjab Bureau Kamal Kishore Yadav, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Flipkart Rajneesh Kumar, Vice-President Flipkart Grocery Anil Jha, Industrialist Kamal Oswal, Ms.Maan further mentioned that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government has created an industry-friendly atmosphere in the state due to which the state is emerging as the favorite destination for investment.
Listing out various steps taken like a dedicated single window system and cheap power, She said that the industrial growth of the state would bring socio-economic changes adding that several reforms have already been undertaken on both governance and economic fronts by the government which will usher in a new era of growth and prosperity. She further highlighted that uninterrupted power, corruption-free administration, supportive government machinery, and the pool of skilled labor coupled with pro-industrial policies will further give a boost to industrial development in Punjab. She said that this grocery facility in Ludhiana would provide new opportunities to farmers of the state. Pointing out further, the minister said that the Punjab Government is working towards providing a seamless experience for the new industries and investors while setting up their businesses. She stated that the government has come up with a new industrial policy which was prepared after a 10-month-long discussion with the business community of the state so that all their demands and expectations could be fulfilled in the policy.
Terming industries as a growth engine for the development of the state, Ms. Maan said that the state government was not only working to increase new investments but also providing ample growth opportunities for the existing industries. She mentioned that all requisite permissions concerning new industries and existing ones are issued in a time-bound manner. She congratulated the entire team of Flipkrt for setting up this facility in Ludhiana and extended fulsome support and cooperation on behalf of the Punjab Government in future endeavors of the company. Giving information about Punjab's first grocery fulfillment center, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Flipkart Rajneesh Kumar mentioned that the center will offer customers a wide variety of regional grocery products across several categories. He also stated that this facility is spread over 80,000 square feet with a dispatch capacity of over 1 lakh units per day and it would cater to the grocery needs of over 600 pin codes across several cities and towns, including Amritsar, Ambala, Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Mandi Shimla, and many more.
