The Commissionerate Police have arrested two accused for injuring security guard Sukhwinder Singh Gorsian Hakamrai village, in Nurpur by opening fires on January 30.
The accused persons have been identified as Kamaljeet Singh (42) and Gagandeep Singh (27) of Mohi village of the district. The police have also recovered a country-made illegal pistol and 16 live cartridges. Kamaljeet Singh is brother in-law of the victim Sukhwinder Singh. Kamaljeet is the husband of sister of Sukhwinder’s wife.
Disclosing further details, Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that a case was registered under Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code, 25, 27, 54, and 59 sections of the Arms Act against two bike-borne men at the PAU police station for opening four fires on Sukhwinder Singh who was on his way to job at Rajgarh Estate on his bike. Sukhwinder was taken to the civil hospital and later taken to GMC Chandigarh.
Bhullar said that immediately after the incident, joint teams of CIA staff-1 and PAU Police station were formed to crack the case and sleuths on Monday arrested both of the accused by carrying out a detailed and technical investigation.
Commissioner of Police said that Sukhwinder Singh had strained relations with his wife for past few years and Kamaljeet wanted to take revenge from Sukhwinder due to which he hatched conspiracy to eliminate him with his accomplice Gagandeep. He said that both of the accused had also conducted recce of Sukhwinder a day before attack.
Bhullar said that Kamaljeet, a truck driver and his helper Gagandeep have already been facing a drug case in Rajasthan. Kamaljeet had brought pistol from MP three years ago.
