For the first time in the glorious history of SCD Government College, Ludhiana, as many as seven scholars of the PG Department of Hindi and Research Centre were conferred the revered Ph. D degree in the Convocation of Panjab University held in Chandigarh on 6th May 2022. Dr. Sondeep, Dr. Ramesh Kumar, Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Dr. Monika Ghulla, Dr. Rajpal, Dr. Suman and Dr. Manisha completed their research under the guidance of now retired professors - Dr. Mukesh Kumar Arora, Dr. Hardeep Singh and Dr. Rajinder Jain.
The principal, Prof. (Dr.) Pardeep Singh Walia said, “7 students receiving their Ph. Ds is a great feat for the department of Hindi and for the institution and a matter of great pride. The institution is counted amongst the leading institutions of Punjab in the field of research. The Research Center began its journey in 2010 and since then more than twenty scholars have done their Ph. D from here.”
The Head of Hindi Department, Prof. Nishi Arora and other faculty members, Dr. Saurabh, Prof. Monika and Prof. Inderjeet congratulated the scholars for this historic moment in the department and the college. Dr. Sondeep, who is also teaches here, paid a rich tribute to her teachers. She said their teachers taught them to dream.
It is worth mentioning that the Convocation was presided over by the Hon'ble Vice-President Sh. M. Venkaiah Naidu who is also the Chancellor of the university. Other dignitaries included the Governors of Punjab and Haryana, Chief Minister of Punjab, S Bhagwant Maan; Vice-Chancellor, Prof Raj Kumar, high ranking officials of the state and the central government, ministers and senate members of Panjab University.
